Under salt deposit corrosion mitigation

Amine plants units in petrochemical production and refining are often subject to salt deposition. The salt deposits may be hydroscopic. Highly corrosive liquor can be retained under the deposits. Hydrogen flux measurement is the only way of locating corrosion under salt deposits, and of verifying effective corrosion control (F.Al-Faqeer, F.Addington,‘Hydrogen permeation application to crude unit overhead corrosion monitoring’, Corrosion 2008 , Paper 08548, NACE Conference Series, NACE, Houston 2008).
